Day 2ABSHERON FLAME TOUR

Fire Temple (Ateshgah)

often called the “Fire Temple of Baku” is a castle-like religious temple in Surakhani town, a suburb in Baku, Azerbaijan.

Baku’s extraordinary landscape, rich in oil and subterranean gases, has intrigued travellers since time immemorial and for centuries the Ateshgah Fire Temple in the village of Surakhani has been attracting crowds of thrill seekers. Built in the 14th–18th centuries around naturally burning flames which were previously worshipped by Zoroastrians, the site was then an important place of pilgrimage for fire worshipping Hindus until the 1880s. Today it houses a well- designed museum and is often coupled with a trip to nearby Yanardagh, the Burning Mountain in Mammadli village where a 10- metre wall of flames blazes day and night at the base of a hillside. These natural flames were described by Marco Polo in the 13th century and continue to mesmerise those who visit the site.

Day 3GABALA & SHAMAKHI CITY TOUR or GUBA CITY TOUR

Gabala is one of famous touristic destinations of Azerbaijan, mainly because of it`s green nature and to the fabuluous views to the Great Caucasian Mountains. Gabala has also great hostorical facts which needs to investigate. It was a capital of Caucasian Albania as early as 4th century BC. However, the oldest Gabala located to near modern Gabala city and that village calls Chukhur Gabala.

The amount of local and international visitors visiting Gabala to be in touch with the region’s exotic nature, to experience Azerbaijan’s amazing cuisine, and to have fascinating relaxation, is growing every year.

This oldest and largest mosque in Azerbaijan, Shamakhi Juma Mosque Built more th an 1,200 years ago Shamakhi Juma mosque still remains one of the largest cult structures of the Caucasus.

Each part has its separate mihrab and an entrance. Many people call this mosque a three-hall. After significant destructions caused to the mosque during wars and earthquakes it has been repeatedly reconstructed and restored. Its contemporary condition was formed in the early 20th century. The mosque was practically built up anew on the old foundation without losing main principles of its structure. Built more than 1,200 years ago Shamakhi Juma mosque still remains one of the largest cult structures of the Caucasus.

Guba is one of the largest cities in Azerbaijan, located on picturesque hillsides 170 km (105 miles) to the north of Baku. In the mid-18th century, Guba was the capital of the Guba Khanate, but today, it is famous for its carpets, scenery, and delicious sweets.

Chanlibel Lake located in the Second Nugadi village of Guba. The lake has become a favorite leisur e place for tourists coming to the region. “Chanlibel “ lake which is surrounded by fabulous forests and mountains.

The Memorial Complex was constructed in Guba city in 2012-2013 and opened in 2013

Construction of the Memorial Complex and creation of the Genicide Museum was carried out by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. The entrance part of the Complex contains expositions about various parts of Guba, construction works in this area and lifestyle of Guba population in early twentieth century.
